Trinidad

Trinidad of Cuba has been a UNESCO world heritage since 1988 and one of the best-preserved colonial towns in the Caribbean. The city of Trinidad lies about 10 km away from the ocean shore to the south of Cuba.

Trinidad unites nature, city, a culture from colonial times and flair

Surrounded by the Escambray, a magnificent mountain chain, extremely interesting for nature fans in particular. This history-drenched place has 75,000 inhabitants and shows well preserved colonial buildings, narrow cobbled streets, and numerous sites of historical significance. Experience genuine time travel, take walks through the narrow streets reserved for pedestrians only. Its heart is the Plaza Mayor Park. Right next to this park is the Museum of Colonial Architecture, or the "Romántico" museum, in which you can admire antiques from the 19th century.

The »Plaza Mayor« marketplace with all its surroundings and the flair it exhales, reminds of the colonial times in which Trinidad had its first heyday. The commercial blooming of Trinidad in the 19th century was determined by the sugar cane and the extraction of sugar. Only after the middle of the 19th century, when Europeans largely switched to sugar beets, did Trinidad lose much of its economic significance.

Today, Trinidad is an attraction for tourists who wish to experience the Cuban culture in its very heart.
