It is important that you gain a sense for both currencies, since it is not always clear whether the CUC or the CUP are being used, and the price is only given with a $ symbol. Rule of thumb is: in private restaurants, a Mojito or a Cuban beer will cost about 2-3 CUC, a pizza at the street vendor about 15 CUP (therefore approx. 0.60 CUC).
Safety and Crime in Cuba
Those who respect the rules of good behavior will have no problems with the police in Cuba. Otherwise, those who might consume too much rum and will behave in a visibly unpleasant way, may „earn” themselves a night in jail.

You will quickly find that, particularly in the tourist sites in Havana, a lot of people want to sell you a lot of things. But even if the well-intended person may recommend the best restaurant, the cheapest taxi, the best cigars – do not fall for it!

In Cuba, clocks are ticking to a different, more slowly and leisurely beat. So, it’s no surprise that a lot of things in Cuba seem so different and quite confusing for tourists who meet them for the first time. One widespread phenomenon in Cuba is the waiting queue – the famous „cola“.

Non-Cuban citizens can be represented in court only by »internationally approved« lawyers. There are a few lawyers and institutions that facilitate such service.
SIM-Card for Tourists in Cuba
Starting in December 2019 there is a new offer available on the Havanna International Airport José Marti. At terminal 3 you can buy a SIM card for your mobile phone specially for tourists before crossing the passport control.
Coronavirus / CoVid-19: Entry into Cuba
The Cuban airports will slowly start operating again in November / December 2020 and tourism can use Cuba as a destination again. Some airlines have already started their flights.
